It doesn’t matter how wide a lens you own. Sometimes when you’re faced with a gorgeous expansive vista, just one shot won’t capture the scene…and that’s where panoramas come in. I used to try to “stitch” all my panoramic shots together by hand to create the final product, but after experimenting with Photoshop’s automated Photomerge feature a couple weeks ago, I went back and redid some of my favorite collections. Enjoy (make sure to click the panoramas to see the large versions and get the full effect), and keep an eye out for part two!
Towering mountains, shimmering wildflowers, magical clouds, and stately deer – what more could you want? Olympic National Park in Washington has it all! I think I was snapping at least one shot every thirty seconds during my visit there in August, it was so gloriously beautiful, but here are a few of my favorites.
Just before the sun disappears below the horizon, everything is soaked in glorious, radiant warm light. Despite it being a tiny window, it’s still my favorite time of day to shoot. But combine raindrops from the day’s storms with that pre-sunset light and you get something truly magical.
